Cheap towing prices in Elizabeth, NJ: the booking fee, the online fee, the miles, and every charge we leave off

Start here if price is what matters. The booking fee is fixed and printed on this page, the miles are counted on the call, the four roadside jobs carry one flat price each, and the list of charges we do not make is longer than the list we do.

How the price is built

Booking fee plus miles to your chosen garage: the whole formula for an Elizabeth tow

Every Elizabeth tow adds up the same way: $149 to book ($129 if you do it online), then the mileage to your chosen drop-off, spoken before a truck leaves, and recovery gear only for a car that cannot roll or steer and only once you say yes.

01

The booking fee: $149 by phone, $129 online

One fixed charge for bringing the truck to Elizabeth and loading the car, identical at every hour. When a dispatcher takes your details it is $149; when you enter them yourself on the booking page it is $129, and the $20 difference stays with you.

It covers a wheel-lift or a flatbed for a car, SUV, minivan or pickup. Box trucks, buses and tractors need heavier equipment and are quoted separately.

02

The miles, and how to keep them short

Counted from the car to the destination you pick, not from our yard to you. Inside Elizabeth, or into Linden, Roselle, Hillside, Union, Roselle Park or Newark, the count is small.

Name a garage near the car and it gets smaller still. Trips to the shore or out of state become a long distance tow, quoted with tolls and the return trip included.

03

Winching and dollies, only when needed

Added when the car cannot roll or steer: after a crash, in floodwater, off the pavement, or stuck in park without keys. The dispatcher usually hears this on the call and prices it then.

If the driver finds it only when he arrives, he states the figure before he starts. You can say no.

04

The charges we never make

No night or early-morning rate. No weekend or holiday rate. No fuel surcharge.

No hook fee on top of the booking fee. No passenger charge for one or two riders. No storage on a car taken where you asked.

No release fee. No fee for calling for a quote. No difference between cash and card.

Three details, pickup spot, drop-off and vehicle, are all the dispatcher needs to give you the final figure.

Cheaper than a tow in Elizabeth: jump start, tire change, lockout and fuel delivery

Boosts, spare swaps, lockouts and fuel drops in Elizabeth each cost one set price with zero mileage, and because so many breakdown calls turn out to be one of them, plenty of drivers here never pay for a hook at all.

Jump start

Commuter lot at the station, the IKEA lot, an Elmora driveway: the pack clips on, the engine turns over, you leave. Should the battery refuse to hold, the driver hooks the car on the spot and there is no fresh call-out.

Tire change

Your spare mounted on the curb or the shoulder. With no usable spare, the car goes to a tire shop you choose, and the miles stay short when it is nearby.

Lockout

Keys left inside at the Mills, on Broad Street or in your own driveway. Proper entry tools, no broken glass, which is the costly way in.

Fuel delivery

Ran dry on Routes 1 & 9, North Avenue or a side street in the Port. Enough gasoline or diesel to reach the next pump, any hour.

Unsure whether you need hauling at all? Tell dispatch; the cheaper roadside job goes out ahead of a truck.

Real cheap versus bait cheap

Telling a genuinely cheap Elizabeth tow from one that only sounds cheap

Honest low-cost towing shows its fee in advance, counts the miles before sending anyone, delivers where you say and bills what it quoted, while a bait price opens small and gathers add-ons once the driver is standing at your car.

Ask any tow company three things before you agree. What is the booking fee, and does it include loading? How are the miles counted, and to where?

Where does my car spend tonight? Three clear answers mean a real quote; a vague answer to any of them means the price will be finished later, at the curb, when saying no is hardest.

Our answers: $149 or $129 online with loading included, miles counted to the address you give, and your garage or your driveway.

Crashes are the second trap. An unrequested truck may haul the wreck to a lot that bills rent daily and a fee to let it go, and the car still has to be moved again to someone who can fix it.

Calling your own truck and naming your own garage saves more than any low quote. If a plan or a policy covers towing, pay the quoted total, keep the itemized receipt and claim it back.

Quotes are free and fixed, whatever the clock says.

FAQ

Pricing: common questions

Short answers to what people ask about this page; the dispatcher can answer the rest.

Is $149 all I pay for a tow in Elizabeth?

That covers getting the truck to you and the car onto it. Mileage to the drop-off comes on top and is spelled out before the truck leaves, and nothing else is routinely added.

Why does booking online cost $129?

Entering the details yourself saves the dispatcher's time, so you keep $20. If you are on a busy road, call instead; speed matters more than the saving.

Is there a higher rate overnight or on holidays?

No. The booking fee and the way miles are counted do not change with the hour or the date.

Do I pay more with a card than with cash?

No. Every card, both phone wallets and cash come to the identical total.

Will there be storage charges?

Only if you ask us to keep the car, and then the daily figure comes first. A car dropped at your mechanic, a dealer or your home never sees a storage bill.

Can I get a receipt my insurer will accept?

Yes. You get a line-by-line receipt, printed or emailed, listing the booking fee, the mileage and any winch or dolly work, which claims desks accept.

Anything else? Ask on the call.
